Essay on Camel

Camel is a huge animal, whose color is light brown or dark brown, which has come from abroad. It is most commonly found in the desert areas of India. Because it can run like water even in sand. That is why the camel is also called the ship of the desert. The camel has four long legs, two ears, two eyes, two protruding lips, a short tail and a large hump on the back. The neck of a camel is long.

The camel has four legs, due to which it can run in the desert at a speed of about 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. The camel feels less thirsty, due to which it can live without water for a month. To store water, there is a special type of pouch in its stomach which stores water and food inside itself.

Another feature of camel is that it sweats less. Because there is more amount of water inside it and the thickness of its skin is also more. There is stiffness on the knees of the camel. Due to which when the camel sits, it is protected from rubbing.

Camel is a herbivorous animal that takes thorny bushes, green leaves, grass, sugarcane and grains in its diet. It has 34 teeth in its mouth which grinds the food completely. Camel drinks about 35 liters of water in a day. Camel’s milk is very nutritious, which is why many people in the desert use its milk.

The legs of a camel are padded, due to which it is able to walk fast in the desert and even after having such a big body, it does not get stuck in the sand. A little above the eyes of a camel, there are hairs which serve to protect the eyes from the flying sand. Camel’s nose has nostrils. It closes when there is a strong storm, then the sand is not able to enter the nose. The camel can easily see far away in the desert.

The intelligence of a camel is very sharp. The way it passes once, it never forgets that path again.

Camel milk is rich in energy. It contains vitamins, minerals and copper. Camel milk is very good in taste. Many people also use it in drinking it. It tastes like cream and is white in colour. One feature of camel milk is that its curd does not freeze.

A healthy camel gives about 6 to 8 liters of milk in a day. It is specially used in diabetes, in making ice cream etc. A camel gives birth to only one child at a time or sometimes gives birth to two children. Her babies are not able to even stand on their feet for two days and they do not even have a hump at the time of birth.

The body hair of the camel is also cut from time to time and it is also bathed. It is believed that after cutting their hair and bathing them with mud, their hair becomes even more beautiful and soft. Their hair is used in factories to make clothes, in which ropes, bags, coats, wool etc. are special.

Camels are used as a means of transport in the desert. Camel is also used more in carrying goods from one place to another. The camel has been a special vehicle of kings even in ancient times. Also, on Republic Day, soldiers sit on camels and perform various tricks and people also enjoy camel rides. Soldiers on the Pakistan border in Rajasthan use camels to keep an eye on enemies.

Along with this, farmers also do camel farming. Due to the more hair on the body of a camel, it neither feels much cold nor does it feel much heat. The life span of a camel is up to 50 years and even after the death of the camel, many types of materials are made from its body which are very expensive and important. Shoes are also made from its leather. Camel dung is also used as fuel and can also be made manure.

Camel is also a means of employment for many people in Rajasthan. Tourists coming from it also enjoy its ride and the owner of the camel also gets its income. Many types of Rajasthani artefacts are also made on camels which are very beautiful to see and are liked by everyone.
